The Bachelor

Many congratulations to our very own Brian Ballard. I found out last night through a link on Drudge Report that he has been chosen by ABC to be the next "Bachelor" on the hit reality show of the same name. Ballard now joins the growing list of LU Track Alumni who have entered the reality show biz.

ASHEVILLE- This evening southwest North Carolina's own Brian J. Ballard was informed by ABC executives that he will be the next Bachelor on 2009 version of the hit reality show - "The Bachelor." Ballard was met by reporters as he arrived at his suburban home this evening & expressed his utter shock at being the "chosen one." "I am shocked that I am the chosen one." He also explained that his application to the show was a last ditch effort to find a soul mate before he turns 40 next year.
ABC expressed great excitement at their selection, ABC reality show executive Ben Berstein seemed elated as he showed that after a great deal of demographic research, Brian Ballard scored highest amongst Indian sub-continentals with a college degree, income over 40K, & a very well-kept vehicle. "This is a group that we have been trying desperately to make inroads with, we thought Sanjaya was the ticket, but for some reason this southern gentleman makes the grade."

Ballard, a local range Asheville celebrity is a 2001 graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, currently living & working in southwest North Carolina, votes Republican & drives a Solaris.

We are very excited for Brian. In case you don't know, the premise of the "Bachelor" goes like this: One man, usually with a decent steady job, & other qualities that women typically find attractive - not unlike our Ballard, is placed in a house with 25 women of varying degrees of baggage & beauty. Over the course of several weeks through a series of group dates, athletic activities & hot-tub scenes hardly fit for prime time television, the Bachelor must whittle down the field of potential mates to just one by eliminating the less "desireables" at an extremely intense & dramatic rose ceremony...

Congratulations & best of luck on the show Brian, from all of us here at the 2008 DRD planning commission!
